Privatization of prisons
opposite directions in the neoliberal punishment
Abstract
The article analyzes the contemporary movements of the prisons privatization policy in Brazil and the United States, especially represented by the states of São Paulo and California, which go in opposite directions regarding the adoption of the measure: São Paulo undertakes the first steps for the implementation, while California terminates its prison privatization policy.
