Ceasefire criminal policy
Keywords:
Critical criminology, Structural violence, Penal abolitionismAbstract
The article argues that, under neoliberal capitalism, war is assimilated as a form of criminal policy, blurring the line between external conflicts and internal control. War rhetoric legitimizes excessive punitive power and normalizes structural violence, especially in peripheral contexts affected by inequality. Critical criminology is called upon to unmask this “epistemology of war,” proposing a negative criminal policy that rejects war as a solution and advocates for the abolition of state violence, investing instead in democratic and redistributive agendas.
