About the Journal
The Brazilian Journal of Criminal Sciences aims to publish scientific papers related to criminal sciences, comprising the areas of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law and Criminology.The journal also publishes interdisciplinary works in the humanities and social sciences, as long as they present contributions that dialog with the themes and problems of criminal sciences. In order to cover the editorial scope, the journal is divided into the following sections: (a) Criminal Law; (b) Criminal Procedure; and (c) Criminology.
Aiming to develop solid knowledge in the criminal sciences that will have an impact on judicial practice, BJCrim also publishes critical commentaries on jurisprudential decisions, preferably those emanating from higher and international courts, as well as opinions. With the aim of also dialoguing with academia, the journal publishes critical reviews, interviews and research reports. These contributions are mainly included in section (d) Law by those who do it or can be published independently.

Nos últimos anos, a política legislativa penal vem se firmando no horizonte dos estudos sobre o processo de produção de normas penais como um espaço de reflexão orientado para a compreensão e crítica dos fundamentos teóricos e empíricos dos objetivos, estratégias e políticas públicas destinadas ao controle e à prevenção do crime. As primeiras aproximações teóricas realizadas acerca do tema sugerem ser a política legislativa penal um campo de investigação distinto da política criminal.
