On men and crimes
building a tense dialogue between Marx, Durkheim and Foucault

The text recovers the reflections of Marx, Durkheim and Foucault on the construction of necessary, average and disciplined men as a fundamental moment in the constitution of a given social order. It analyzes, in Marx, the transformation of producers into proletarians disciplined by violence, laws and the compulsion of economic relations; in Foucault, the new mechanisms of control, the disciplines and the fabrication of the useful individual; in Durkheim, the average man and the function of crime and the criminal in maintaining social cohesion. It concludes that, rather than ruptures and margins, there are coincidences among the authors, revealing general tactics of subjection aimed at common men.
