In search of the exercise of citizenship

The article examines the experience of legal assistance to popular movements of the Center for Human Rights and Popular Education of Campo Limpo, presenting the Course for the Training of Popular Legal Advisors. The exposition starts from the observation that traditional legal assistance does not respond to the needs of the population and community leaders, and describes the legal study group, situational strategic planning and the diagnosis of local reality. The investigation analyzes the development of the course, its content, methodology and evaluation, with the themes studied. The text concludes that the exercise of citizenship is not obtained by the gift of the State, but by popular struggle.
