Abstract

Alberto Torres elaborated numerous proposals for social and political reforms throughout his work. In this article, those aimed at creating a social organization founded on equilibrium, homogeneity and the suppression of conflict will be highlighted. Forging cohesion was, for him, the only way to overcome the social disintegration and political disorganization in force in the country. It will be demonstrated that his reflections offer the best clues for understanding some fundamental traits of Brazilian conservative thought.
