Abstract

While recognizing the value of the data provided by the Rorschach test, interpreted from an individual and dynamic perspective, this paper proposes its use as an instrument for examining and clarifying more general psychic processes investigated in neuropsychology and cultural anthropology. From a cognitive approach, a methodological distinction is proposed between levels and modes of processing perceptual stimuli. Particular attention is given to the role of perception, representation, judgment and the attribution of meanings in the determination of emotional processes, considering a type of emotional disorder expressed through the intense and uncontrollable release of a destructive affective impulse, related to violent behavior.
