Abstract

This article aims to analyze the determinants of confidence in the Military Police of the Federal District, according to gender and race variables, based on a residential survey conducted with the population of the Federal District. The so-called "ripple" effect was evaluated, which makes the population trust the police more or less as they learn of the violent behavior of the Military Police. Through logistic and linear regressions, it is described that the population's confidence in the Military Police of the Federal District depends on the concrete experience, directly or indirectly, of individuals with violence, in addition to their age and gender.
