Abstract

IBCCRIM is participating as amicus curiae in a case before the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice that challenges Precedent 70. The normative text states: “The restriction of oral evidence to testimonies of police authorities and their agents does not invalidate a conviction.” Antonio Pedro Melchior, current president of IBCCRIM, also delivered oral arguments during the hearing, emphasizing the impacts of the precedent's application on the criminal justice system.
