This work seeks to understand the expansion of punitive reinforcement that begins at the end of the 20th century and continues until this day. For this, the study will be developed from the perspective of the role of social claims for an increasingly strong Criminal Law and its relationship with media’s activity and political leaders on the process of law making and compliance. Likewise, the theory of ideational supply will be treated as an essential item in order to understand the movement of internalization of norms that accompanies this process of penal reinforcement.
