Abstract

This article aimed to test levels of association between the rule of law indicators (measured by the proxy Criminal Investigation Index), democracy and violence. After discussing these concepts theoretically, the research work tested, using statistics, the following hypothesis: the higher the level of criminal investigation, the higher the level of democracy and the more controlled the violence. The results of the statistics in their correlations, confirmed the hypothesis, demonstrating significant levels of association between the indicators. This indicated that: the quality of democracies in Latin America is associated with good criminal investigation indicators, a factor of the rule of law, and that these correlations are associated with the control of violence in the region.
