This editorial addresses the persistence of structural and institutional racism in the Brazilian criminal justice system. Based on the analysis of data from the Brazilian Public Security Yearbook and articles published in the Boletim IBCCRIM, the text explores the multiple facets of racism, from police lethality and the mass incarceration of the Black population to new control technologies and psychological suffering. The editorial argues for the urgency of an in-depth debate and antiracist practices for the transformation of the justice system and the strengthening of democracy.
