Whatsapp messages as evidence in criminal proceedings: the understanding of The Superior Court of Justice

The article presents the jurisprudence of the Superior Court of Justice on the use of WhatsApp messages as evidence in criminal proceedings. For this, the quantitative and qualitative methodology was adopted. Initially, the systematization employed is explained; then, the predominant understanding of the Superior Court of Justice on the subject is discussed; next, as they manifest specifications or exceptions to the predominant understanding, four topics are addressed and, separately; at the end, the research findings are summarized.
