Due diligence as a guarantee of the right to equality and non-discrimination: Case González and others vs. México and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights jurisprudence

The article analyses the “Cotton Fields Case” (González et al. Vs. México), sentenced by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. The precedent is pioneer on the issue of women's enforced disappearance and the lack of an effective investigation. The case is illustrative of the relationship between structural violence and discrimination against women based on their gender. Finally, one points the importance of the parameters adopted by the Inter-American Court on the duty of due investigation as a guarantee of non-repetition.
