Criminal investigation, Artificial Intelligence, Criminal EvidenceAbstract
This article starts from the premise that criminal investigation needs to be developed under epistemic parameters, with support in valid reasoning methods capable of guiding the fact-finding activity. In order to reduce the distorting effects of cognitive biases that commonly affect the trier of fact and to provide better conditions for achieving the outlined ideal, it is suggested that artificial intelligence can offer interesting tools to assist and make the activity more rational and less subject to errors, in order to contribute with more responsible accusations and better conditions to criminal defense.
