Given the current situation, rationalizing the legislative process is a necessary stance and should have the Criminal Legislative Impact Assessment as a powerful ally. Although increasingly popular, the tool is far from being incorporated into reality and presents a series of challenges in doing so. Recognizing them, however, does not make more auspicious perspectives impossible. This weighting exercise is what the central problem of the paper will seek to undertake. Based on reflections that originate from a deductive approach, indications for a certain optimism were evident: some degree of openness of the branches of power to the tool; the country developing other favorable conditions; the fact that small steps are already welcome; a passing game between technical and political knowledge that is often favorable; and the existence of outlets for dealing with the timing and measurement of legislative activity. The challenges, therefore, cannot invalidate the instrument.
