Abstract

Sinuous, chaotic, dangerous and unpredictable are some of the adjectives that would fit like a glove to describe the current directions of national politics. The former "super" Minister of Justice and Public Safety and former Federal Judge in charge of the Lava Jato operation, Sérgio Moro, is now publicly belittled and treated as an enemy by the government he faithfully served until he no longer serves. Among shouts and insults, Lavajatistas (or ex-Lavajatistas?) burned with a blowtorch T-shirts printed with his face. "Burn his face," said one of the demonstrators.( ) A scene unimaginable just a few months ago. Amidst the pandemic of COVID-19 and on the eve of one of the worst economic crises in history, the Republic of Curitiba, on a tense Friday morning, beat a retreat from the Esplanade, leaving behind the rubble of its assault on power.
