On June 20, IBCCCRIM applied to join as amicus curiae in REsp 2.046.906/SP (STJ), which discusses whether the occurrence of violence against an object can be understood not as theft, but as inherent in the criminal type of robbery. The issue, which will be decided in the representative appeal of the controversy, generated theme 1.227: "to define whether the classification of the crime of robbery requires that the violence employed be directed at the victim or whether it also covers cases in which violence has been employed against an object, with the intention of subtracting the good".
